Celebs on the Map

The celebs recently spent some time exploring our state of Tennessee. With the help of the Tennessee State Museum, we borrowed a mobile learning lab. The celebs enjoyed exploring Tennessee on a HUGE canvas map. They learned about many products and resources from Tennessee and where in our state they are located. They even did a scavenger hunt to find out more about these items. Some of our state's most important resources are the people! Therefore, the celebs did some research about these important Tennesseans and created a Top 10 list of their important details. These were shared with the class and then their photo was placed on the map in the correlating county. Check out the paparazzi pics of all our great Tennessee learning...

Celebs BooTCAmP Snapshots

The celebrities of Harkreader Hills just returned from their BooTCAmP training. During their BooTCAmP training they prepared their mind and body for the TCAP test. They dissected testing material, prepared TCAP survival kits, and learned special breathing techniques to keep their dendrites relaxed! Check out our Top 10 Secret Codes to TCAP Success!

1)   Read the Questions 1^st & carefully; ask yourself “What was the test writer’s purpose for asking me this question?”

2) Use your POWER WORDS to decompose or break down the question.

3) Stick to what you know-this is not the time to experiment or try something new.

4) Jail the Detail: Underline, box or circle important words, information, or data

5) Show your thinking-work out math problems

6) Plug it in-Plug it in: Plug in the #’s you think will make the equation true.

7) Slash the Trash: Look at the multiple choice  Which ones are true/false (X out false choices)

Narrow it down to two-then pick the BEST

8) Double Bubbles: double check that you have bubbled in the answer your intended and your bubbles are beautiful.

9) It’s your test! It’s your question! You are in charge!

10) Confused? Don't go bananas-go back!

They were a bit disappointed to discover that the text were part of the celebs learning about the United States Constitution. The celebs translated the Preamble into text messages. Celebs walk for a technology!

The celebs have been helping their school, J W Wiseman, to raise money for new computers. They began by getting pledges for the number of laps they could walk around the Wiseman track for 30 minutes. When the day of the event arrived, the celebs were all fired up to get as many laps as they could. It was such a great day to get some exercise, walk with friends, and raise money for much needed computers. After the walk-a-thon, the celebs set out to collect their pledge money. I am so excited to announce that the celebs raised a total of $1, 233.91. Wow--that will purchase 3 computers just with the celebs contributions. We want to thank all the family, friends, and businesses that contributed. Check out the paparazzi pics of this amazing event...

Celebs take to the battlefield!

The celebs have been preparing for their starring role in The American Revolution. The celebs practiced for the Revolutionary War scenes by becoming experts on the different fighting formations. The British preferred to march in nice, neat rows taking each step in unison. The Patriots used a less structured technique and had not real structure or formation. The celebs enjoyed their paperball musket reenactment of the battles fought during the Revolutionary War. Many paparazzi braved the fighting and captured some pics of the action!
