The Celebs Step Back in Time!

The Celebs took a huge step back in time to the mid 1700's. As they begin their studies of the American Revolution they put themselves in the shoes of the colonists and the unfair treatment from King George and Great Britain. The students were either colonists, King George, Parliament, or tax collectors. They each received coins that were used to pay the taxes agreed upon by King George and Parliament. The students really enjoyed the experience and gained a clear understanding of how these acts played a large part in the beginning of the Revolutionary War. Paparazzi Pics of the Celeb's Premiere Story Reading

The day the Celebs had been anxiously been waiting for had finally arrived.They were so excited to share their Metamorphosis Stories with Mrs. Groves's First Graders. The first graders had previously studied about the life cycle of a butterfly and frog. So, our metamorphosis stories were familiar to them and added to the fun. The first graders were all so attentive to the celebs as they shared their stories. You can see some of the paparazzi pics of the readings below.

Celebs Publish Their First Children's Book

The celebrities have morphed into some creative writers! They have been working hard to create books for young children about metamorphosis. They began by doing research on the life cycle of a  butterfly, ant, damselfly, dragonfly or frog. Next, they worked in writing teams to mesh their facts with fun and write a fictional story about metamorphosis. After some editing and revising the celebs were ready for publishing. They took create care to create illustrations that would support their facts while still holding the interest of the reader. These amazing writers created some award winning stories that helped them understand metamorphosis, as well as, the younger students reading their books. The celebs will be sharing their stories with our 1st grade family, Mrs. Groves class. You can see a special celebrity reading in the paparazzi video snip-its below.

Celeb Chefs Cook Cornbread!

The celebrity chefs cook up some tasty cornbread for their 4-H meeting. The celebs followed the requirements to bake some yummy cornbread muffins. The competition was steep and it was hard to select the top cornbread chefs. Our 4-H leader, Mrs. Vann, made the final selections.

2nd Place: Caelen
3rd Place: Caleb and Lucas

During our meeting the celebs learned more about different forms of energy. Mrs. Vann had some enjoyable learning activities to help the celebs learn all about energy. Check out the paparazzi pics below to see paparazzi pics of the celeb chefs and our energy learning.

The celebrities took a mini break from their studies to enjoy some wintertime fun. They brought out their best winter fashions and enjoyed a crisp winter day on the playground. Check out the paparazzi pics of all the wintertime fun.

The Celebs Welcome 2012!

The celebrities returned to Harkreader Hills from their holidays spent abroad rested and ready for a new year of learning. January is the perfect time for new beginnings. The celebrities reflected on what they have accomplished so far in the school year and made plans for the rest of our year together. The students made resolutions or what we like to call “intentions” for the remainder of the year. The celebs made personal intentions, family/friends intentions, and school intentions. We placed these intentions in our New Year Time Capsule which all the celebs autographed. When the end of the year comes around, the celebrities will be given their “intentions” to see if they accomplished their goals or at least came close.
