Celebs take a step back in time!

The celebrities spent some time investigating the historical lives of Daniel Boone and Davy Crockett. These two longhunters played an important part in our Tennessee and United States history. The celebrities decided to compare and contrast these two longhunters. They chose important details about how each one was different and then connected the two on what they had in common. Celebs Survive BooTCAmP!

The celebrities of Harkreader Hills just returned from a 5 day BooTCAmP training. During their BooTCAmP training they prepared their mind and body for the TCAP test. They dissected testing material, prepared TCAP survival kits, and learned special breathing techniques to keep their dendrites relaxed! Check out our Top 10 Secret Codes to TCAP Success!

1)   Read the Questions 1^st & carefully; ask yourself “What was the test writer’s purpose for asking me this question?”

2) Use your POWER WORDS to decompose or break down the question.

3) Stick to what you know-this is not the time to experiment or try something new.

4) Jail the Detail: Underline, box or circle important words, information, or data

5) Show your thinking-work out math problems

6) Plug it in-Plug it in: Plug in the #’s you think will make the equation true.

7) Slash the Trash: Look at the multiple choice  Which ones are true/false (X out false choices)

Narrow it down to two-then pick the BEST

8) Double Bubbles: double check that you have bubbled in the answer your intended and your bubbles are beautiful.

9) It’s your test! It’s your question! You are in charge!

10) Confused? Don't go bananas-go back!

The Celebs are all Charged Up About Electricity!

The celebs put on their electrician caps and explored the concept of electricity. They have been learning about the different types of circuits, static electricity, and conductors and insulators. I hope their personal "light bulbs" stay bright as they show off all they know on upcoming TCAPs. Check out the paparazzi pics of our experiments below.

Conductors are like Mrs. Evie. Without her our music program would not "go"

We need conductors so the energy on stage will flow!

Insulators are like your favorite jacket or coat. It keeps you toasty

and warm and does not allow you to lose heat/energy.

Insulators stop the electrical current from flowing.

Celebunnies at work!

The celebunnies had quite a job hiding all the eggs for the kindergartners. They were such great sports and helped keep the kindergartners looking in just the right spot for the candy filled eggs. Check out the paparazzi pics of all the hunting action.

Local Celebrities Making a Change!

The celebrities of Harkreader Hills are out to make a change in the cure for cancer. The celebs have been  donating loose change all week. To date they have raised $67.81 to the cause. They will continue to "make a change" in donations through April 20th. In addition, the celebs contributed $ 0.50 to wear a hat in honor of those affected by cancer. The celebs made a personal pledge to do their part in honor of one of our Harkreader Hills family members. The celeb's mom is currently undergoing cancer treatment and they wanted to do this in her honor. They wore pink ribbons all week to show their support and encouragement. I am so proud of their efforts!
